When Amy and Chris Cheadle got together, they shared a passion for great food. Their hands-on pizza parties showed they weren’t the only ones – making food brings people together.
There was love in the air, pizza in the oven and a great idea in the making:
The Northern Dough Co.
From the early days of food festivals, where friends and family pitched up to help create freshly baked samples, to their first farm shop and deli stockists, now to national supermarkets, the years have passed quickly with lots of success. They still host pizza parties regularly, coming up with new and delicious ways to use their pizza dough, but they now share the fun with their young family, who love nothing more than getting their hands in the flour and splashing the tomato sauce around.
Cue lightbulb moment. What if they could launch their dough to the pizza-loving public, so that everyone could have a slice of the fun? It didn’t happen overnight, but after few amazing (but gruelling) 18-hour days at foodie festivals, they secured spots on the shelves of local retailers and farm shops in their beloved North West. This turned into national listings in the likes of Sainsbury’s and Waitrose – and the Northern Dough Co was born!
It’s 2020 and along comes not 1, not 2, but 3 new doughtastic products in the form of brioche, sourdough and two mouthwatering flavour cookie doughs. Chris and Amy had long dreamt of expanding their product range but in true dough fashion, they left the ideas to prove before rolling them out to the general public (and they certainly weren’t going to let a global pandemic stop them).
Things are a little different these days. The pizza parties are still going strong but a growing business and product range keeps them very busy. But some things will never change, and that’s their mission to put the fun back into creating great food from the comfort of your own home, with the people you love.
